Springfield
Clayton and I often frequent Springfield when we go back home to visit his family. There are plenty of things to do and places to eat in Springfield, despite this short list. As we continue to (re)explore Clayton’s hometown, we will add what other spots we find!
What to Do
What to Do
Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium: Located inside the original Bass Pro Shops, is an astonishing aquarium with THOUSANDS of fish, reptiles, birds, and mammals being showcased. Beyond the creatures, you will be able to explore amazing wildlife galleries. Visiting is a must if you are in the area.
Silver Dollar City: Less than an hour away in Branson you can step back in time as you explore the mountain town filled with shows, food, and thrilling roller coasters.
1984 Arcade: For $10 you can spend all night playing classic arcade games. We have spent hours playing just one game before. You can also spend your quarters and play different pinball machines.
Alamo Drafthouse: If your city doesn’t already have an Alamo cinema or it is a rainy day, you should be sure to stop by. They have great snacks (and meals too), beers on tap, and even boozy shakes! Check out their movies to find new and throwback films being shown.
Fantastic Caverns:
Buc-ee’s: Visit the first and only Buc-ee’s outpost in Missouri. With hundreds of fuel pumps, loads of food, and a large gift shop, you will be sure to find something. Be cautious: it is one of the most overwhelming experiences with so many people flocking everyday to see what the hype is all about.
Where to next? Maybe Fantastic Caverns, Dickerson Park Zoo, Crystal Cave, Pythian Castle, Springfield Cardinals Baseball game, Springfield Conservation Center…
What to Eat
What to Eat
Lunch & Dinner
Rama Thai Café: If you are looking for some of the best pad Thai in the city, then stop at the victorian house downtown for a delicious meal. I always get the three taste chciken, while Clayton often opts for something a bit more spicy. Don’t forget to order the thai tea to complete your meal.
Lamberts Café: Looking for a unique experience, like a rool being thrown across the restaurant? Then stop by Lambert’s for some good home-cookin’. Lamberts also is popular for their “pass-arounds” that are served as extra helpings to go with your meal, at no charge too!
Dessert
Hurts Donut: Need a mid-afternoon snack or still hungry at 3 am? Hurets Donut has SO MANY options to choose from, inclduing chocolate, white, or red velvet cake topped with insane flavors like cereal, candy, and cookies too. If you are wanting something a little more savory, try the maple bacon long john.
Pineapple Whip: Only during the summer months, hunt down one of the pineapple whip trucks for a reshreshing dessert. All locations have pineapple everyday, but each truck has a second flavor that is always switching. You can look up whats being served online or be suprised each time you arrive!
Andy’ Frozen Custard: Did you know Andy’s started in Osage Beach and soon took over Springfield with their forzen custard? Stop by one their many locations and try a shake or a speciality concrete.
